2011 Medical Mission

SMDM CUSA sponsored a medical mission at Sta. Inez, San Miguel, Bulacan in coordination with Kapitan and Mrs. Bong Alvarez and the Sanguniang Barangay of Sta. Inez.  The medical mission was undertaken on August 14, 2011.   SMDM was fully supported by a team of San Migueleno doctors made up of Dr. Edwin Tecson and Dr. Jing Aure along with her invited medical professionals from UERM.  Civilian volunteers were made up of our own Treasurer, Gerly Soberano who happened to be visiting the Philippines as a balikbayan,  Medi and Alex Tecson, Vanesza Dino of BPC and our BPC scholars. SMDM CUSA appreciates very much Kapitan Bong, Mrs. Alvarez and their Barangay constituency for their efficient and well coordinated efforts in making the mission a success and most specially for according the medical team their very warm hospitality.  Our sincere gratitude goes to the medical team and volunteers for their willingness to partner with us in this civic duty to reach out and to give their valuable time to provide medical care and assistance to over 400 needy families in the locality.  Mabuhay.

Equipment & Supplies Drive for The San Miguel District/Emergency Hospital (SMDH)The newly appointed Director of SMDH, Dr. Edwin Tecson has requested assistance from San Miguel de Mayumo CUSA in his mission to equip the hospital with much needed medical equipment and supplies.  He is lacking in resources to fund acquisition of such logistics, therefore he has appealed for support from the private sectors like our organization.   Wilma Yu, SMDM’s President, expeditiously networked with a number of relatives, friends and benefactors to gather the list of supplies and equipment as requested by Dr. Tecson.  Three donors came to the forefront in a short period of time.  Freddie Tecson of Toronto, Canada  has shipped out his donation directly to SMDH.  He was followed by Mr. & Mrs. Rey Viola of Boston, MA who has sent out “part 1” of their donation to SMDH with  “part 2” of their donation to be shipped out at a later date.  Another benefactor is Ms. Salve dela Cruz of Peekskill, NY whose collection of used hospital instruments are being gathered and will be shipped out on her behalf courtesy of Highlights Express VA.  To all our tireless supporters,  thank you for responding so promptly to SMDM’s appeal to help out SMDH.  It may be well worth mentioning too that Dr. Edwin Tecson is the first San Migueleno to be appointed by the provincial government of Bulacan to this challenging position.  Congratulations.
